Roland L. Jones

Roland is an award winning solution-oriented results driven Senior Supply Chain Executive with numerous years of demonstrated achievements and accomplishments in management and administration. His demonstrated expertise is in the area of: Procurement, Strategic Sourcing, Supplier Diversity, Compliance, Economic Development, and Business Development initiatives at various organizational levels. He is a proven organizational leader with a multidisciplinary repertoire of skills and competencies in executing strategies and leading change in a fast-paced fluid environment. An effective communicator, with significant success at motivating others towards excellence, Roland L. Jones currently serves as the Director of Strategic Sourcing in the Procurement & Business Services Department at the University of Maryland College Park, Maryland. In the role as Director of Strategic Sourcing, he responsible for achieving its strategic and tactical procurement objectives
Roland effectively leads a staff of 25 professional personnel in four procurement units: Commodities & Services, IT, Delegated Procurement and Strategic Sourcing (eProcurement). Develop and foster relationships with campus customers and key stakeholders and with the supplier community. Mr. Jones served as Contract Manager for Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority. Mr. Jones demonstrated his ability as an entrepreneur as the founder and CEO/President of Jones & Associates Strategic Consulting, LLC., a strategic procurement and diversity consulting firm. Roland served as the Chief Procurement Officer for Prince George’s County Government. Director of Procurement & Contract Management for the Maryland Department of Environment, were he served as the Chief Procurement Officer. Prior to joining the public sector, this forward thinking leader developed an impressive track record in the private sector with such entities as AT&T, Booz, Allen & Hamilton, Sprint Nextel Corporation, GTSI, I-Net, Fannie Mae, Corporate Systems Resources, Commerce Funding Corporation, Wang, and Getronics Government Solutions. A sought after national expert in the fields of Procurement and Supplier Development and Diversity, Jones serves as member of the Board of the Capital Region Minority Supplier Development Council, (CRMSDC), a member of the Board of Directors for Charles Drew Memorial Scholarship Fund, and President of the Board of Directors BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS of Greater Washington

e has held numerous leadership positions within the National Minority Supplier Development Council, (NMSDC), the institute for Supply Management, the Minority Business and Professional Network, Inc., the United States Pan Asian American Chamber of Commerce (US PAACC), the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC), the Senior Executive Advisory Board (SECAB), and the Procurement Corporation Advisory Board (PCAB). He holds a Master of Science in Procurement and Contract Management from the University of Maryland – University College and a Bachelor of Arts in the Administration of Justice from Howard University. He is a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., and an active member of the local community through the First Baptist Church of Glenarden. Jones has been the recipient of numerous accolades and awards for his decades of excellent service to the business community.
